Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire: A Romantic City Getaway
Last updated on June 30th, 2023
When we think of Calgary, our minds don’t necessarily drift to love and romance. Vibrant – maybe, winter – a definite yes. But “top places for a couple’s getaway”? That isn’t a category our beautiful city would rank high on… yet.
A night at this high-class hotel, however, might just change our minds about how appealing Calgary can be for our couples in love!
Top Tier Service
Before we get into the downright flawless features of the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, I have to say that Jason (my fiancé) and I were completely wowed by the incomparable service we had at the Sheraton. From the moment we stepped out of our vehicle for valet parking to the moment we left the premises, our egos jumped from zero to ten because of how accommodating, friendly, and utterly generous the staff were. For two people hoping to have a romantic and worry-free stay enjoying each other’s company and nothing else, this might be borderline imperative, and I have to say that the Sheraton family definitely raise the bar. Throughout this post, as I touch on the many qualities of the hotel itself, the experience you get with their high-end service is intermingled with the enjoyment of the hotel’s features.
The check-in process was by far one of the most efficient and welcoming we’ve had, and Jason and I have stayed at our fair share of hotels. Maddi at the front desk was definitely a delight to deal with; she was always accommodating and provided us with what we needed throughout our stay.
The Suite
After checking in, you’ll be directed to a gorgeous suite with a view of Eau Claire. One of Sheraton’s unique features is that it’s an all-suite hotel, meaning that all the rooms, from Traditional to Deluxe to Club Level (we’ll get into that more – keep reading!), all have a living room, a workspace area, a separate bedroom and an ensuite 4-piece bathroom that also connects to the entryway!
Every suite has a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle at the bar sink. Yes, it has a bar sink in the living area! We also loved that there were two TV’s – one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Sheraton makes it easy to entertain in their 492 sqft – 526 sqft suites!
As the hotel staff knew of our 5-year anniversary, they went all out to ensure that our weekend was as special as could be. They didn’t hold back when it came to decorating our suite with the freshest rose petals and rose-themed towel origami! We were elated when we also saw the sweetest touch from the Sheraton family as they signed a personalized card they made for us! Take a look for yourself to see how your request for a magical stay can go a long way.

Look at what other romantic amenities the Sheraton team provided! Who wouldn’t love to enjoy a refreshing Brut Rosé with delicious chocolate truffles, chocolate-covered berries and macarons on their lovely couple’s getaway?

One thing I love about the Sheraton that you almost don’t see with any other hotel brand is that they have an entire online store where their linens, bedding, bath products and more are available for purchase! So if you want to take your luxurious and cozy experience home with you, you absolutely can! Jason was not only a fan of the hotel’s pillows but it was one of the best sleeps he’s had in ages. Well, you could actually order the entire bed and bedding to your home if you wanted to. Imagine that!

Dining at Flower & Wolf
Call up the concierge to book yourself(selves) a reservation at Flower & Wolf on the main floor of the Sheraton because you have yet to try Executive Chef Cole’s delicious and wholesome cooking. Their all-day menu encompasses many different cravings but the entrée that takes the cake for us is the Braised Bison Gnocchi. Absolute. Gold. I want to do the chef’s kiss every time I think about this meal.

We also enjoyed every last bite of the Red Lentil Hummus, Fried Calamari, House Chop Salad and the Maple Glazed Salmon, all pictured below. I do hope that when you come visit, that all these options will still be on the menu!

Our breakfast at Flower & Wolf was equally spectacular, healthy and satisfying. From the Brisket Hash to the Classic Benedict to the Buttermilk Pancakes and the vibrant fresh fruit bowl, we were set for success for the rest of the day. How gorgeous is this spread?

Though it’s in fact a casual dining experience at Flower & Wolf, feel free to dress up as much as you’d like. The setting and interior design of the space have notes of modern luxury that definitely make the restaurant’s patrons feel like they’re dining in style.

The ambiance and food surpassed our expectations, but so did the service. Bruna and Doug were excellent servers and you’d be lucky to have them tend to your table!

Crazy Views at the Pool
You can’t have a romantic vacation without a dip in the pool and hot tub! Well, Sheraton Eau Claire is the place to get a calming soak and swim with your boo because nothing beats the poolside view of downtown Calgary from the Sheraton! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. I don’t think I have to tell you how ecstatic Jason and I were to know that Sheraton was opening its doors to their pool and fitness area last month (October 2020) as COVID restrictions were being lifted.

After warming up in the hot tub whilst admiring the skyline view, make sure you check out their waterslide. You’re never too old for a ride on the slide (okay, maybe some of us might have to enjoy this one from afar!).

Sheraton Club Benefits
When you’re booking your stay with the Sheraton Suites Calgary, you might want to consider upgrading to be a Sheraton Club guest. Why? Because of all the extra amenities! This isn’t a membership you need to apply for, it’s not as complex as that. You would simply book the suite that indicates “Club level” for your stay and your time here will be enhanced even higher.
Here are some things that you get exclusively as a Club guest (and this is just to name a few!):
- complimentary breakfast for two
- bottled water
- free wifi
- terry-cloth bathrobes and slippers (cozy!)
- upgraded bathroom amenities
- exclusive 24/7 Sheraton Club Lounge access (more on this below)
- suite situated on the top executive floor
As a Club guest, you can also request an early check-in based on availability, and you basically get priority for most hotel requests.
Now, on the Sheraton Club Lounge: this is an exclusive area on the top floor of the Sheraton for Club guests to work, relax, enjoy stunning views and eat/drink for free! There are always snacks and drinks free for the taking throughout the day, but for freshly made warm and cold hors-d’œuvres, guests would show up between 5 and 7pm. The bar is open 11am to 9pm and that complimentary breakfast is served here as well every morning. The Club Lounge is also home to the Sheraton’s rooftop patio with a full 270-degree view!

Sheraton often hosts wedding ceremonies out on the Club Lounge patio and their lounge is used for cocktail hour for the wedding guests. What an incredible idea and what a magical place to celebrate your big day!

Now that you have everything you need to know about what it’s like to be a guest at the Sheraton Suites Eau Claire, I can’t wait for you to experience it for yourselves. From the suite, to the pool to the restaurant to the Club Lounge patio, what more could we ask for in a romantic escape in the city?
This post is written in collaboration with Sheraton Suites Calgary after a PR stay. As always, these opinions are my own.

I’ve been to Calgary a few times now but never stayed here. Looking at this though I will definitely look at it next time I’m going there. I love the pool, and that’s such a nice decorated welcome surprise

What a stunning place to stay! I have to admit, even thought we’ve visited Alberta several times now.. we have never kept driving all the way to Calgary! I am sure we will make it to the city at some point, so I’ll keep this in mind. The food looks incredible and I looove how romantic they made the room for you. <3
